Joyful January | Top 5

Hi everyone! I've decided to start doing favourites every month (at least, i'll try) I'm gonna list down 5 things, that I really like every month. There's not gonna be any fixed categories as I'd like to keep everything casual and not have to try out a certain new thing. I hope you like this kind of post! :)

Fashion
Boots : Topshop
As you can slightly see in the photo above, its inside is lined with fleece (?) I'm not to sure, but it feels extremely soft almost like I'm walking on clouds. I'm usually a size 34 or 35 but I was absolutely attracted to this pair of boots, so I didn't care really care about the sizes and bought a size 36. With a pair of socks, everything fits nicely. I'm glad a bought a size or 2 up. As to how I got my hands on those boots, I had to make the sales lady to call up another store to book it for me cause the Topshop I was in, only had a display one and it wasn't in its best condition. I hope I didn't bore you with the unnecessary information!

Movie
Frozen
Frozen is not an ordinary princess movie. I really really enjoyed it. Its even rated as a top 5 movie on IMDb of 2013. I know I'm a little late on the bandwagon but if you are like me too and haven't watch this movie yet, you have to watch it. I'm not going to spoil it for you but I'm gonna get you a little more excited to watch this : you will be addicted to the songs  ;)

Food

For my dad's birthday, my brother and I treated him to a birthday dinner at Victoria Station. Even though, it costed us a huge amount, we had a great family bonding over the great tasting food. That was definitely my favourite family outing of the month!

Book
The lucky one by Nicholas Sparks
You can read the description for the book here. I am not the best at describing anything so, a book is not an exception either. Just in general, all Nicholas Sparks' books are my favourite. No doubt, he is also one of my favourite author! You should definitely check this out, if you haven't already.

There is no need to rush into things. When you see that special someone, you will know. You will want to spend the rest of your life sitting next to them. When it's meant to be, it will be.
Do not ever rush into finding the one. Great things come to those who waits.

♡ Let me know if you can "top that" on any of the things I've mentioned above! Let me know your favourites as well ♡

1 crop top 5 ways

Style : Black crop top

Style : Black crop top by jiahuilai featuring a chanel nail colour

Hi everyone! I think I'll start creating more outfits on my Polyvore and posting them on here once a month.
I've got to admit that black crop tops are my absolute favourite. I wear them all the time (and no, I'm not kidding) Since I wear it so often, I thought maybe I could show you how I would style them so nobody will notice that I've been wearing the same top every time I leave the house. Tbh, (to be honest) you can just throw on anything and it'll still look nice because black is a very versatile colour. These are just some of my ideas, hope you like it!

DIY : Phone Case

You can change up this DIY however you like. Use different colour papers, collect pictures from the magazine and form a collage. It's totally up to you! I hope you like this DIY :)

These are the supplies I used + a blade
 What you'll need :
- Clear phone case (you can get one here
- Scissors / blade
- Paper / colour paper
- Sharpies / anything to decorate
- Pencil

This is the design I created, you can do whatever design you want.

How to? :
1. Trace the shape of your phone on a piece of paper
2. You can cut it out first or decorate it first.
3. Put it in your clear case and then put it on your phone
4. And there, you're done!

This is how mine turned out! Show me a picture of yours!
♡ Do you like this idea? If you do try this out, send me a picture on my Twitter / Instagram (@JiaHuiLai) ♡

Back To School : Study Tips

Here are some of my tips that will hopefully help you out when you're stressing out for school!

1. Flash Cards
You can easily get your hands on ready made flash cards in the stationary store or you can get crafty and make them yourself. Going through your flash cards before you sleep will help you remember them better.

2. Brain food
- Blueberries may be effective in improving or delaying short term memory loss.
Broccoli has a great source of Vitamin K, which is great for enchanting cognitive function and improving brainpower.
Nuts like almonds, walnuts and pistachio provide oxygen to the brain which increases your mental alertness and ability to retain information.
Dark chocolate can feed the brain by improving memory, increasing blood flow to the brain, increasing alertness and clarity.

3. Take reasonable breaks
Don't be too hard on yourself. Study for an hour and take 10 minutes rest. So you won't be too bored and still get your studying done!

4. Split up projects into smaller tasks
If your teacher assigned you a project that you need to be done by a certain date, set your deadline a week or a few days earlier. Do not do everything at the eleventh hour, split it up into smaller tasks and you'll feel much more motivated.

5. Make a to do list
Plan and write down everything you need to do, goals of the day, homework and your plans. Do not tell yourself that you will remember what your teacher told you, because you will not.

DO NOT EVER EVER PROCRASTINATE
